POINT OF VIEW, “A Commentary” HISTORICAL EDITORIAL &
factual REBUTTAL and then some By Jane Myra Bland
Although not endorsed, some news organizations had the common “sense” to state who they endorsed without making unfounded comments.
An internet news reporter April Galarza of THE NEAR WESTSIDE GAZETTE was one of several reporters whom requested an interview from Jane Myra Bland. An interview Galarza could have done unilaterally as a sloppy and unflattering twist of words, absent research and quotes were published which obviously were poorly framed for a later endorsement issue by this overzealous Democrat reporter; the story was classic "tabloid." If funds are re-directed by any School District and the research provided reflects facts to that effect, then a competent and seasoned reporter needs to know how to articulate that to the public absence fabrication and bias.
“When I was journalist years ago, my work was credible, reliable, without unfounded opinions and respected by my subjects. Without these inherit values, the world will forever not trust or respect reporters and view them as blood suckers for sensationalistic information because inexperienced reporters whom manufacture views or facts forever ‘tarnish’ the credibility of other hard working journalist.” -- Jane Myra Bland
A “DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY” IS NOT GOOD FOR MINORITIES.
If you care to listen, let me give you a little piece of Black History you won’t find anywhere else. Many of the non-Black politicians visit churches only during times they are running for elections.
Blacks carry the Chicago vote Democrats and have a long standing history of abusing Black loyalty. Blacks still do not know or refuse to believe that the Republican Party has produced more United States Senators than any other political party believe whatever they are spoon fed by Black leaders who are not leading very well.
Chris Mathews of The Chris Mathews Show stated in a 2006 show that if Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. (D-TENN) were to win his bid for the United States Senate; he would be the first African American State Senator from the south to win. WRONG!
A minority news paper in Chicago, “The North Lawndale Community News” reported in one of their Black Facts moments that Republican Edward W. Brooke of Massachusetts in 1966 was the first African American elected to the United States Senate since Reconstruction. This is confusing. If you ask ten Black children what reconstruction is in history, perhaps one will be able to tell you depending on the parents and what type of values they have instilled in their child.
References to Black history like above are not only inaccurate but confusing. Mathews, not being Black, could be forgiven about his lack of Black history and facts much quicker than a minority news paper like The North Lawndale Community News. On more levels than one, Black publications have a moral obligation to produce and report clear and concise historical facts so our youth can understand Black history.
If any newspaper is going to mention reconstruction, they should define it or omit it. The “Reconstruction” era is post slavery. I don’t like the reference so I just omit it. The Republican Party is credited with electing both the first Black United States Senators and members of the United States House of Representatives, before and after the ‘reconstruction era.’ The Republican Party is connected to Abraham Lincoln, along with his Whig party-Unitarian party and that of the Emancipation of Proclamation which celebrates the designated day on June 19th. The Democrats from their inception were framed to be the party of slavery, the KKK and secession.
Until 1876, the Republicans made genuine efforts to ensure that southern Blacks were able to vote. Here are the facts: The “first” Black United States Senator came from the “Grand Ole Party” [GOP] known as the greatest political party on earth; the Republican Party.
The first Black United States Senator was Republican Hiram Rhodes Revels of Mississippi [1870]; the second was Blanche Kebo Bruce of Mississippi [1875] plus the first Black whose signature was represented on U.S. currency as register of the Treasury until his death in 1898; the third was Edward William Brooke, III of Massachusetts [1966-1979]. Brooke’s was the first American politician to be elected by popular vote to the United States Senate, now retired and living on a 151 acre farm on the east coast.
Since 1870, the Republican Party is credited with elevating over 106 Black members of the United States Congress; including several voting members. Republican Joseph Rainey was the first Black member of the United States House of Representative.
Then comes the Democrats with only two; Carol Mosley Braun of Illinois is the 4th Black United States Senator and [recently founded AMBASSADOR Health products]; then Barack Obama of Illinois is the 5th Black United States Senator.
In 1866, Congress passed The Civil Rights Act and The Reconstructive Act which greatly benefited Blacks. The term “Reconstruction” dissolved all governments in the former Confederate states, with the exception of Tennessee and divided the south into five military districts to protect the rights of the newly freed Blacks from slavery. The act required that the former Confederate states ratify their constitutions conferring citizenship rights on Blacks or forfeit their representation in Congress. As a result of these measures, Blacks acquired the right to vote across the Southern states. In several states (notably Mississippi and South Carolina), Blacks were the majority of the population and were able, in coalition with pro-union whites, to take control of the state legislations, which at that time elected members of the United States Senate. In practice, however, only Mississippi elected Black Senators. On February 15, 1870, Hiram Rhodes Revels became the first Black member of the Senate.
Blacks were a majority of the population in many Congressional districts across the South. In 1870, Joseph Rainey of South Carolina became the first Black member of the United States House of Representatives. Blacks were also elected from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina and Virginia.
The Klu Klux Klan (KKK) was founded by the Confederate party, while the KKK does not want to assert any political affiliation; it is a known historical fact that all the founding members of this organization were members of the Democratic Party. This organization believes and views themselves as ‘racially pure,’ anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic and believe they must do whatever it takes to oppose the granting of civil rights to Blacks and other alike. The Democrat founders of the KKK wanted to ensure the mission of the organization was upheld; so an effort was made to create a hierarchical organization with local chapters reporting to county leaders, counties reporting to districts, to states and to national headquarters. A secret document called the “Prescript” was created and written by George Gordon, a former Confederate brigadier general and Democrat.
To be become a member of the Klu Klux Klan, your answers to the following questions had to be to the satisfactory of the members.
Republicans were not allowed membership in the Klu Klux Klan, Union Army Veterans were not allowed membership, if you were a member of the Loyal League you had to be opposed to Negro equality both social and political and you would have to be in favor of the White man’s government maintaining the constitutional rights of the south as it has always been and the emancipation of the white men of the south just a few of the requirements. Then, the Democratic run KKK believed the Republican Party was too pro rights of the Negro and admitting to any Republican connection and desiring to be a KKK member did not mesh and was a sure way to be eliminated from the selection process.
During this time a courageous Republican Governor William Holden of North Carolina attempted to use state militia against the Klan around 1870. Although there were many indictments, Democratic White jurors were extremely unlikely to vote for a conviction. Although he successfully toned down the power of the Klan around this time, the result was a backlash that lost him the upcoming election.
Republican Ulysses S. Grant waited quietly until in office and in control and did every thing in his power to dismantle the power of the Klan. He started a movement to crack down on Klan and enacted a series to involve the federal government in 1871 which took a series of steps to stop the violence of the KKK. He relocated troops from the Indian wars on the western plains to South Carolina, in order to put down Klan violence. In October and November of that year, the federal Circuit Court of the District of South Carolina held a series of trials of KKK members suspected of having engaged in criminal conspiracies, but with many Democrats silently enlisting as jurors; the trials resulted in few convictions but triggered the creation of federal law that would protect Blacks. After additional anti-Klan legislation passed and accounts from 52 witnesses about Klu Klux Klan atrocities; the courthouse became uncontrollable with angry residents with passing of additional civil rights laws which compelled a Black State Senator to escape only by taking to the woods.
Among many of the KKK’s rise and fall periods, Confederate Democrat N. B. Forrest fiercely began to oppose the Republican state government and the party came into being under the attacks as well. In the worst affected counties, disguised night riders ranged the countryside on a regular basis, dragging people from their homes, whipping, shooting or otherwise assaulting them, destroying their property by burning a cross in their yard. White Republicans who supported Blacks and their civil rights were also targets of harassment and called “Nigger lovers.”
The KKK has been in existence since 1866, in one form or another, and was formed with the intent to develop a harsh way to dismantle the anticipation of the inevitable “Reconstruction” era; created and endorsed by the Republican Party. The Democrat ran KKK violently and fiercely resisted Blacks being freed with rights and wanted to restore White domination over newly enfranchise Blacks; regardless of the price they had to pay. Dressed in white robes and sheets, Klansmen whipped and killed Blacks, lynched them and dragged them for sport behind their cars which started in the 1870’s, peeked in the 1920’s to the 1930’s until they began to lose its power in the “Civil Rights” movement of the 1960’s when Blacks began to fight back hard.
Democratic President Woodrow Wilson [1913-1921] was known to be member of the KKK and endearingly gave an honorable mention in his epic book,
Democratic Woodrow Wilson was endearingly proud to be a Klansman, as well as another Democratic President at that time, as depicted by filmmaker D.W. Griffith’s.
The KKK suffered another setback in 1990, when the Georgia Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of that state’s Anti-Mask Act (Ga. Code Ann. $16-11-38) by a vote of 6-1 (State v. Miller, 260 Ga.669, 398 S.E2d547). It is held that this law does not interfere with the organizations or any of its member’s freedom of speech.
Later on a new Klu Klux Klan failed under the direction of David Duke who became a Republican to demonstrate the organizations ‘new image’ by allowing Republicans in an organization once banned from them because of their support to Blacks. Duke shifted his energy to segregation and emphasized the power of maintaining a pure white race and encouraged the bombing of school buses. Duke ran for a seat in the Louisiana State House of Representatives in 1989 and won. The Republican Party did not support him and allowed another candidate to run and threw their support that way.
Today Blacks still feel, regardless of the moral fiber of the individual, if anyone is a Democrat this is whom they will support. Democratic Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia joined the Klu Klux Klan in his twenties and of course, “he deeply regrets” joining over a half century ago in his youth. According to the Ku Klux Klan by-laws; once a Klan member you are always a Klan member; for life. Regardless, somewhere in West Virginia, Blacks voted for Senator Byrd; regardless of the fact he is a life time member of the Klu Klux Klan.
MOST ENTERTAINERS ARE DEMOCRAT. THEY HAVE A PROFOUND INFLUENCE ON THE WAY PEOPLE ELECT THEIR OFFICIALS. Money and Glam should not influence anyone.
Democrats cleverly framed the “Initiatives” on the ballot to include a minimum wage increase; allowed the voters to vote on it as if they were making the decision to give themselves a raise and it can be a “win win” initiative. The other “initiative” about the war in Iraq brought a class of people to the polls whom otherwise would not have come; believing their vote not just would but could stop the War in Iraq. The Democrat candidates campaigned across the board that “this vote is about the war and nothing else.”
Unfortunately, it is to the detriment of the country and a cheap “misrepresentation” to promise in a Presidential campaign that the war will end with a Democrats in office; that won't happen.
Democrats are in charge with the Chicago Police Department; not Republicans. So when you want to sue for abuse; how can you sue for the same "Democrat Administration" you voted in charge of this city or country for that matter? Chicago is governed and run by 95% Democrats and the Chief of Police is Democrat appointed by a Democrat Mayor, so when you want to accuse police here of being racists Republicans; that is not a fair statement.
I don't dislike Democratics; many are my dearest friends and in my family. The fact remains that the Democratic Party [Grandfathers of Slavery, the Confederacy and the Klu Klux Klan] by word of mentioning “President George Bush” in campaigns and to Blacks has poised America against the Republican Party; regardless of its rich positive history.
Many minorities do not even know what “Retention” of Judges mean or the importance of this initiatives. Minorities ignore this section of ballot and view it as unimportant, according to the residents. After explaining to as many voters as I could what “Retention” means, they vowed never to pass it by again. This should trigger awareness to those on the bench, that you as a jurist must be fair and unbiased to all on the issues before you. Minorities, specifically Blacks, are before Judges more so than any other race and more times than I would like to state do not receive equal or fair treatment as their non-Black counterparts. Thereafter one may complain about the Judge or not being afforded a fair trial; if you voted against the Judge being retained (this means they need about 60% or so votes for them to continue to sit on the bench) and others alike feel the same, then the Judge won’t be able to hear anymore cases and will not be retained. Judges must receive sixty-percent of a “Yes” vote to be retained. For these reasons, it would be beneficial to minorities to visit various Judges in their court room and observe them to see if they follow the letter of the law.
One day I hope Blacks regain the common sense they once had.
